STURIDGE RULED OUT DUE TO INJURY

Memphis Depay
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Daniel Sturridge could be out of
action until September after hip surgery.
Sturridge announced on Tuesday that he had undergone a successful procedure
on his hip after an injury-hit season.
"Just want to let the world know I've had a successful operation on my hip
today and I want to thank God for allowing that to be possible," he wrote on his
Intagram page. "Onwards and upwards from here. Thanks for the support."
And Rodgers has now confirmed Sturridge will miss the start of next season as
he steps up his recovery from surgery.
"We anticipate he'll be back to train around September and then it's about
getting his fitness," Rodgers told reporters.
He added: "We are hopeful issues he's had have been resolved."
Sturridge scored 24 goals in all competitions last season as Liverpool narrowly
missed out on the Premier League title.
But this season, the England international has managed just 18 appearances
and five goals, with Rodgers's side currently set to miss out on next season's
Champions League.
Rodgers has also claimed Liverpool were never especially keen on signing
Memphis Depay from PSV, following news that the Netherlands star has agreed
a move to Manchester United.
"It wasn't something we were ever interested in," Rodgers said of a potential bid
for the winger. "We already have four wingers at the club. We have other
priorities."
