Thousands attend Audu’s burial

Thousands of supporters and sympathisers on Monday thronged Ogbonicha town to witness his burial of the late candidate of All Progressive Congress in the Saturday’s inconclusive governorship election in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu.
Mr. Audu died on Sunday at 68.

A News Agency of Nigeria correspondent who covered the burial reports that the late politician’s supporters could not hold back tears as he was lowered into the grave.
The chairman of Kogi Council of Ulamah, Salman Adam, assisted by the Chief Imam of Anyigba, Yahaya Musa, presided over the Islamic burial rites.
A Muslim scholar, Kassim Imam, in a brief funeral speech, said only God had the right to give or take life as no human had that right.
He said Mr. Audu’s death should not be ascribed to the making or wishes of any man, saying it was his time to go back to his creator.
Among those at the funeral were the national chairman of APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, former governors, political associates, including James Faleke, the deceased’s deputy governorship candidate.
