READ THE SYNOPSIS OF "ROMEO AND JULIET" BY WILLIAMS SHAKESPARE

The story begins with servants of the Montagues and Capulets fighting in the streets. The Prince is tired of the ongoing feud between these two familes and swears banishment or penalty of death if they are caught fighting again. Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio attend the Capulets' masquerade party, univited. Romeo falls instantly in love with Juliet. After the party, he spends the night vowing his love to Juliet below her balcony. Romeo and Juliet secretly seek Friar Laurence to marry them, hoping this will put an end to the feud between their families. Romeo returns from his secret wedding and finds Mercutio and Tybalt arguing. Tybalt is a Capulet. Tybalt kills Mercutio. Enraged, Romeo kills Tybalt. Then, he realizes he will have to flee Verona. Lord Capulet has promised Juliet's hand in marriage to the Prince. Juliet seeks the help of Friar Laurence who gives her a sleeping potion that will cause her to appear dead. However, Romeo does not get the message and returns thinking his beloved Juliet is dead. He drinks poison. Juliet awakes and kills herself with Romeo's dagger. The two families realize a little too late what the feud has done to their children: The Montagues and Capulets promise to end their hostilities, which have caused the deaths of their only children.
